The UCR is a federal report, describing crime in the United States for a year. However, we only report index crimes at our agency. Do you know what "index crimes" are? Furthermore, robberies were more frequent than aggravated assaults in 2012. These index crime statistics are not completely reliable as these only consist of reported crimes. In fact, these crime levels may be even higher if all of these crimes had been reported. This could also be the product of the hierarchy rule. [ Silence ] Yeah, I'm available for an incident report. Actually, my intern is available for an incident report. Yes. We'll come down to the interview room to meet the victim. Have her wait there for us. Thank you. [ Hangs up phone ] Looks like we have an incident offense report to take. This will involve index crimes that we will report to the UCR. You'll take the victim's statement and make the determination as to how the crime will be reported to the UCR. Let's go down to the interview room. Interview Room Sergeant: I'm Sergeant Jones, and this is my intern. Ma'am, please tell us exactly what happened. Female: Well, I had pulled up to the ATM machine and I was getting money out of my account, and I was turned toward the machine getting the money out. And the passenger door on my car opened, and this man got in. And he held up a gun, and he pointed it at me. And he told me to get out all my money. So I got out all my money. And then he told me to drive. He said to take a right out of the bank parking lot. So I took a right. And he told me to keep driving. And so I kept driving down the road. And then he said, "Pull over at the next parking lot." So I pulled into the next parking lot. And he told me to get out of the car. And I got out of the car. And he told me to look away. And I guess he got into the driver's seat because the next thing I knew, I heard the car pull out of the lot. I could hear the gravel. And I couldn't see which way he went, but he left with my car and with all my money. [ crying ] Sergeant: I'm very sorry that this happened to you, ma'am. I can assure you that we will do everything that we can. And we'll be in touch with you as soon as we have more evidence. Female: Thank you.
