1. The airports within the NPIAS are assigned a hub status based on the annual percentage of the U.S commercial enplanements.
Larger Hub: ≥ 1 % annual U.S commercial enplanements
Medium Hub: 0.25-1 % annual U.S. commercial enplanements
Small Hubs: 0.05-0.25 % annual U.S. commercial enplanements
2. Runway Incursion: It is defined as the inco
ect presence of the aircraft, vehicle or person on the protected surface area which is designated for either landing or take-off of aircraft.
Surface incident: Unauthorized movement excluding the runway incursion which affect the aircraft operation and safety.
Vehicle/pedestrian deviations (V/PD): interfering of aircraft operations by either pedestrians, vehicles or other objects without air traffic control authorization. V/PD is one category of Runway Incursion.
All the above are similar is the interfering of aircraft operations by unauthorised access affecting the safety of aircraft.
